Unattended pet waste is a large source of stormwater pollution. Pet waste left on grassy areas, sidewalks and streets is flushed into our storm drain system when it rains. The toxic mix of bacteria from dog waste and water then flows untreated into our local waterways and ocean.
The next time you take Fido for a walk:
- Make sure you have extra baggies in the car for when you drive to the park.
- Carry enough baggies, as well as some extras to hand out to less conscientious dog-walkers.
- No need to fill up your pockets, try tying the baggies either onto the leash or your dog’s collar.
Since Fido can’t, do your part, pick up the poop.
