Fall Leaves

Never, ever rake or blow leaves into the street. Leaves may seem natural and harmless but they clog our storm drains, cause flooding and run directly into our lakes and rivers. When leaves rot, they create yucky green algae that makes our rivers no fun to swim in and suffocates the fish we eat.

So, do your part:

  • Rake leaves and bag them rather than sweeping them into the street.
  • Compost leaves to create a nutrient-rich fertilizer in your garden
  • Mow leaves and then apply on the grass will also create fertilizer your lawn will love.
  • Drop off bagged leaves at your local compost site or have them ready for curb side pick up. Contact your City Hall to find out the pick up schedule.
